2009 Best Halloween Haunted Attractions
Since I’m a bit of a SERIAZZ BIZNAZZ nutcase when it comes to Haunted Attractions, I thought I would assemble a handy-dandy list of some of the best Haunted Attractions by location – including Europe! Yes, I am thinking of you as well, my international readers, but sadly, it seems that the events in Europe aren’t nearly as fancy or as numerous as ours. :( For a more complete list of all known haunted attractions, click here.
Florida, and California, appear to be the motherships of Halloween festivals followed by Pennsylvania Missouri, and New York. I have found an event in England and Germany (just one each :( ).
I have indicated in the comments if I have actually been to an event. The others are ones that are spoken highly of in the haunt fan scene, but I have not been to them (yet).
This is by NO MEANS a complete list of every attraction in the world. If you know of any that are not listed here and think that they should be included on a “best of” list, please let me know. If you have been to any of these and have any thoughts, please comment! :)
If you own any haunted attraction and would like to invite me to come and blog about your attraction, email me. :)

Universal Studios Florida Halloween Horror Nights
Comments: Universal’s stomach-turning festival with 8 haunted houses full of insanity. I can put my personal stamp of approval on this. I went last year and it was amazing.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Comments: A family-friendly parade and party with snacks and trick or treating at the Magic Kingdom.
Busch Gardens Tampa Howl O Scream
Comments: Busch Garden’s scarier and higher budget haunt. I hope to see this one this year!

OH:
Site NSFW: Haunted Hoochie
Comments: The most gory haunted house in the country.
PA:
Jason’s Woods
Comments: This event comes highly recommended to me by my fellow haunt enthusiasts. This year they have a Haunted Hayride, Barn of Terror, Pirate’s Revenge 3d Mystery Maze, Pitch Black, Psycho Circus, and a Macabre Museum. New for this year is Escape from OZ (as in The Wizard of Oz) and Lost in Jason’s Woods. I’d like to try this one this year.
Eastern State Penitentiary
Address: 22nd Street and Fairmount Avenue
Dates: Fri-Sun and select Weds & Thurs. 18 September – 7 November
Comments: This is an old penitentiary that has been restored. For Halloween they convert part of it to a Haunted House. I can personally place my stamp of approval on this one. I went 2 years ago and can’t wait to go again this year. If you go, do not miss the daytime historical tour! Even that is creepy!
