I was devastated when I heard that The Adventurers Club was to be shut down in 2008 along with all of the other clubs in Pleasure Island. You see, I never was able to go to Disney World before this. Now that I was able to go, they took out some of the best things. This is honestly the stupidest decision Disney has ever made. Ever.

The Adventurers Club was located in Pleasure Island. This was a special area inside Downtown Disney in Orlando. Pleasure Island is now dead. They pretty much just filled the middle of their shopping complex with empty, stripped buildings. Some stores are still open on the other side of the area, but many guests miss this fact because you have to walk by a lot of closed shops to find this out. I had heard a rumor that the owner of the Hanes store on the other side of this area was going to sue because no one knew his store existed due to the dead zone in the middle of the shopping complex.

Disney had expected to fill these spaces with new shops, but this never happened. They weren’t able to find people to rent many of the stores. They are now filling some of Downtown Disney with Disney-owned niche shops to fill in this huge emptiness. Whoop dee shit. No one cares. Everyone cares about bringing back The Adventurers Club!

Someone just recreated The Adventurers Club in the Half Life 2 engine. Will Disney get a clue? I hope so.

Whee! Working hard on my convention!

I spent all of tonight working up marketing materials for sponsors in InDesign. I learned 3 things:

1. I can use InDesign.
2. I am good at this.
3. I can’t switch off my brain from writing/organizational work to art mode easily.

I’ll have to figure out a mind hack or something. I already figured out how to make myself exercise many times per week, keep a day job, run an entire convention, regularly update a comic, make art for people, and visit friends once in awhile. I have to just figure out what the trigger is in my brain that tells it to make fun art for me when I’m done working.

Oh, I added a “Hire Me” section up top. If you want me to make some art for you or speak at your event. Those kinds of things can easily be done. Art for other people is easy. Art for me is hard. :)
