Danger Bob: The Best Jungle Cruise Skipper EVAR

You might have picked up that my favorite thing on the planet are amusement parks and fairs, especially Disney World. The Jungle Cruise is a ride in Disney World that I like. It started out as a SERIOUS BUSINESS educational nature cruise. That didn’t work. It was boring. So, they were instructed to play it for laughs. The result is mind-destroyingly kick ass.

You HAVE TO watch this guy to see what I mean. OMFG AWESOME. I wish my skipper was this good when I went on it:

Oni Becomes a Tinkerbell Fairy in Pixie Hollow

So I got this email that said if I sign up to Pixie Hollow that I could win a trip to Disneyland in California. HOCRAP you can bet I signed up.

I signed in and created a fairy. Apparently this is like, the Disney version of World of Warcraft. You basically wander around and fairy about while playing games. Tinkerbell gives you quests and you fulfill them similar to WoW. The emphasis is on mini games and meeting friends rather than combat.

I didn’t actually play it that long. The main thing that prevents it from being fun for anyone above the age of 8 is the fact that it is very sanitized. You can’t use the color black on your fairy. You can only type “approved words” or use a “speedchat” that allows you to pick from pre made sentences.

The sanitization makes this game less appealing in my opinion, but keep in mind I am probably much older than the intended age group for this. :D You have to select someone to chat with and go through their workflow. Since you can’t see what other people are saying in a common area and the characters are so very similar, it doesn’t really inspire the user to say hello. Maybe I am not playing it right.

The main thing that I found amusing is that out of the approved name words, the closest I could get to “Onezumi Hartstein” was “Oregano Hollypetal”. Allow me to introduce you to Oregano Hollypetal, the webcomic-drawing fairy with a rock and roll haircut:

Here is a shot of the game play:

It’s cute, and definitely something that I would like if I were a kid again. I am jealous that all the cool stuff comes out after I’m grown up. :/

Also, I haven’t seen the films. Has anyone played this more than I have or seen the films? DId you like them?

Here is the link if you would like to create your own fairy.

Daisy Does Soulja Boy

The level of detail the Disney resorts have is nuts. They are equally selective on whom they choose to play their characters. They are expected to be versatile…for example, Daisy killed it doin’ Soulja Boy:

This was in the stack area of the Disney Cruise Line. It is a staff-only area.

However, they also delight patrons in public. Here is Soulja Boy dance in Disneyland courtesy of Goofy and Pluto:

And here are Tigger and Eeyore beating the crap out of each other:

The actors know how to skate that line. I know for sure my perfect world would be full of crazy furries dancing and fighting. :D Weird is good, yes.

the-adventurers-club-to-reopen-in-2009-2010
The Adventurer’s Club to Reopen in 2009? 2010?

Oh my, my, my. I feel so passionate about reopening the Adventurer’s Club that used to be in Downtown Disney in Orlando even though I have never been there. The thing is – I WANT TO GO. I know people who have gone and it appears to be the best thing in the world. I guarantee you that this would be something I’d do as much as I could. (ARE YOU LISTENING DISNEY FOR REAL SERIOUS?)

For those of you just tuning in, TAC was a PG-13 club themed after 1930s adventure. The actors played these awesome characters and would do shows and mingle with the guests. A jaunt to youtube provides some video evidence AWESOME, SON:

Technically, TAC is open now, but it is not open to the public. Disney rents it out to large groups for the sum of $10,000.

Pinky, are you thinking what I’m thinking? Yes. Someone DID rent it out and invite everyone on the internet. I like it when people think like me. If you will be in Orlando on the last week of September, you might want to click here right now and check out ConGaloosh.

Sadly, I cannot go. :(

BUT!!!!

Yesterday I read something that leads me to believe it might reopen. Disney has stated that it might reopen “in some form” at the not yet built 5th park, “Disney’s Jungle Trek”. DJT is supposed to be a park that operates at night and presumably would have an older audience. They also say that it might be a competitor to Sea World’s Discovery Cove, so it might have a premium admission price of $250 to accommodate less people each day who will be escorted through one on one animal interactions like hippo feeding and dolphin petting.

It is unclear of whether TAC would be just characters at the park or another full-scale bar associated with the park. The price might not even be true. Heck, they don’t appear to be releasing much of anything other than the fact that this park will open in 2010-2011.

Someone says that she had a conversation with a Disney Executive who led her to believe something big was happening regarding TAC. I hope she is right. Check out the 4th paragraph here and this forum post.

In the meantime, I am making Kungaloosh for my friends this weekend. (Kungaloosh is the official drink and greeting of TAC) Here is the recipe, courtesy allears.net:

New Kungaloosh Recipe — since 2000 or so

1 cup Daily’s Strawberry Daiquiri Mix
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum
1/4 cup blackberry brandy

Toss it in a blender with enough ice to make it slushy.
