Hi! I'm Oni. I live in New Jersey. I am an illustrator, educator, webcomic creator, and I started the creator-focused convention called Intervention. I'm in the news a lot. I blog about art, theme parks, and fun things for people who also like kicking life in the nuts. Haunted attractions inspire my artwork.
Harknell showed me this video on his iPhone during dinner at a diner and I embarrassed myself laughing because I couldn’t stop! I was hysterically crying/laughing! AAAAAA!!!
I have been so busy lately! I’ll be at WildPig Comic Convention on April 3rd in Somerset, NJ. If any of you locals haven’t been able to make it out to the other events I’ve done, now you have no excuse not to show up. :D I’ll be drawing comics, selling stuff, and generally making with the lulz. Note that this con is a Sunday only event.
Yes, that’s right – If I end up doing this it will be the farthest away from my home state of New Jersey that I have ever displayed my comics and art. This con is just 2 weeks before my convention – Intervention – so I predict that I will be needing a vacation after mid September in a powerful way!
Dragon*con isn’t confirmed, so don’t buy tickets based on me yet. I have to make sure I can get the time off from my day job and get there. It is looking likely, though.
What you should do is CLICK HERE to register for Intervention or CLICK HERE to purchase cute Owl plushies, posters, and shirts – all proceeds from this store and my Onezumi Studios store go toward funding my event. We’ll be again putting many of the panels up online so they can be a resource for all!
There will be a lot more tour dates announced. If you want me to appear at a convention near you, let the staff know in a polite way that I can make any event more awesome.
Ghost Ship won About.com’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best New Theme Park Attraction of 2010. I had visited Ghost Ship mid season last year. The facility is phenomenal, but in my initial review I felt that the storyline could be articulated a bit better and was unhappy about the low number of scare actors in the ship itself. I was convinced that if they kept refining the concept that they could have the best attraction in the northeast on their hands. I am convinced that attractions like this are the best thing ever, and it seems that Jack Morey agrees with me:
“It’s interesting to see an attraction that relies heavily on a theatrical concept rise over all these purely mechanical, though truly impressive, rides,” said Jack Morey, Executive Vice President of Morey’s Piers. “It reinforces the fact that the classic culture of the Wildwoods and ‘America’s Boardwalk’ is very much alive.”
It is not uncommon for new attractions to go through adjustment periods while the owners work to refine the concept. You can imagine how happy I was when I heard from their PR department that they are addressing a lot of the points that I brought up for the 2011 season. I have been told that they will be adding more actors and working to make it scarier. Morey’s has invited me to meet with them so that they can share with me their long term plans to make Ghost Ship even better. With a positive attitude like this, Ghost Ship could be downright dangerously awesome once it is refined down to a science.
I’ll visit them when the Summer season is open for business. I’ll be sure to report back! :D If you are considering a vacation to Morey’s Piers, you can check out their website here.
Now if only Paramount would wake the heck up and bring The Star Trek Experience back to Vegas, everything would be right in the world. It was supposed to come back for the new film’s release in 2010, but it has been indefinitely delayed due to some bureaucratic crap with the new venue. Next, they started auctioning off all of the set pieces, so a return is unlikely at this point. English Translation: This is stupid. you can read all about that here.
