I hope Gwazi’s Millenium Flyer trains like my spinal cord

It’s no secret how much I love Busch Gardens Tampa. I think I might even blog about them more than Disney Parks. However there has always been one thing I wished BGT would improve. Gwazi!

Their Gwazi coaster isn’t just a rough coaster – it was so rough when I rode it in 2008 that I vowed to never ride it again. Never in my life have I been scared while on a ride that I may need an ambulance.

How it played out was almost comical. I got on Gwazi and went over the first few dips. It felt like my spine was being destroyed. I am an experienced coaster rider, so I have a few positions I do when I encounter a harsh coaster. Position #1 is hunching forward and bracing my neck and back with my muscles as much as possible. That failed. Position #2 is leaning backward while similarly doing this. That also failed. Then I thought to myself – hey the ride is almost over! I can get off of this painful thing…but then we went over the crest of the hill and it was revealed to me that 3/4 of the ride was still left! Gwazi is #1 on my worst coasters list and the only coaster I had put into “Never Ride Again” classification. It actually hurt me and I felt it for the rest of my vacation.

You can imagine how elated I was when I heard that BGT was redoing the cars. The word is that the new cars will make the ride smoother!

Off of my “Do Not Ride” list you go, Gwazi! I’ll be trying this baby out in May. I’ll report back if this coaster’s makeover was a success. My friend over at BGTNation says that it is indeed smoother.

Cars sliding down icy hill in Pittsburgh

This video made national news. I found out something weird – this is the street that I used to live on in Pittsburgh!

I wouldn’t be surprised if they just didn’t salt at all. Pittsburgh is the city where they install diapers under the bridges to catch the falling debris rather than fixing it .XD

disney-set-to-close-snow-whites-scary-adventures-and-so-i-have-rage
Disney set to close Snow White’s Scary Adventures and so I have rage

Good news and bad news my friends. See the picture above? That’s the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster that is being added to the Fantasyland expansion. This is good news! I LOVE INDOOR COASTERS!!!! :D

HOWEVER…Disney announced that they are closing Snow White’s Scary Adventures and making that attraction a meet and greet. SWSA was one of my favorite rides as well as one of the original rides in WDW! I do not love this part of the deal!

The logic behind it makes sense, if you think like someone who is not me. I’ll explain.

The original Fantasyland expansion was set to have a ton of meet and greets with princesses. You were supposed to be able to:

- Make greeting cards for Aurora’s 16th birthday at the hidden cottage:

- Visit Cinderella at her house:

- Visit Tinker Bell at Pixie Hollow:

They pulled the plug on these attractions because they were too girly and put the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster there instead.

So far, I like this idea.

I never thought meet and greets were that big of a deal. I can also freely admit that the old proposal was princess overload. I also like coasters, but shutting down my awesome favorite best evar ride and replacing it with a princess meet and greet is NOT GOOD.

If they were shutting it down and putting something awesome there, I wouldn’t be ready to rip my face off and shove it down my pants with rage. A meet and greet or play area is not awesome. It is a placeholder that you put somewhere when you run out of budget. (Example, Pooh’s Playful Spot acted as a placeholder while they figured out what to do with the old submarine ride.)

If they had to axe a ride, I don’t see why they couldn’t shut down some other ride. For people who can’t ride coasters like Harknell, this is another net loss of a ride. It seems everything has to be a coaster today and hardly any new gentle Dark Rides are being built. This is why tearing down one of the original Dark Rides seems like such a shame to me.

Here is a ride-through of Snow White’s Scary Adventures:
