I’ve been super busy over here. I’m working on tidying up this blog a little bit. I’m slowly working on updating my artwork and streamlining the interface here. I say “slowly” because…

In the meantime I have fixed the width of the blog her to accommodate wider media, so it will be easier for me to blog cool things for you. :D This weekend is Webcomics Day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, so I’m really excited to see people. :D

The Harry Potter Island has soft-opened at Universal Studios in Florida. This means that it is not officially open yet, but they are letting some guests in for limited hours. The grand Opening is this Friday, June 18. For that occasion, they are bring the real Knight Bus that was used in the Prisoner of Azkaban film to the park. It will only there for the grand opening. Check it:

This island looks incredible. You can eat at The Three Broomsticks, shop at Dervish and Banges, Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods, Zonko’s, Honeydukes, Ollivanders, and the Owl Post. They have almost all of the food from the films, clothing, wands, brooms…it’s really nuts. Butterbeer is allegedly delicious, but it costs about $8 a glass, so bring your wallet if you come here and be prepared to leave a bit poorer.

The creation of the park was overseen by the Potter films’ Production Manager, so you can bet it will be spot on. Check out a walkthrough of Hogsmeade here. You can see how serious business the actors are in this video of a wand choosing a boy here.

In addition to shopping, there are 3 rides in this island.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey: New scenes with the actors were shot for this ride. Its the ride that is located in the castle. Here is a walkthrough of the castle. This ride will take you through a Quidditch match, spiders, and all kinds of stuff from the movie.

Dragon Challenge: A re-themed version of the Dueling Dragons coaster.

Flight of the Hippogriff: A kiddie coaster.

I live in New Jersey, so I can’t go to Universal myself to check it out just yet, but I may be down there on SRS BZNZZ this Fall. If I can do it, I’ll be sure to try and photograph and possibly video the heck out of it for you. :)
