The Holidays are supposed to be a happy time, but for many people they are just sad reminders of things that have happened to them and their families. The truth is that the family that you see on the postcard isn’t something one should look at and compare oneself to. It’s not real! Most people don’t have perfect families. This very concept is the reason why the stream of holiday comedies where everything goes wrong is so popular.

In life, almost everything goes wrong! Maybe you just have Uncle Stinky who farts like an elephant. Or perhaps you have something worse like an angry, abusive family member. I suggest you all read this piece by Patrick Stewart where he writes about how messed up his life was and how his father was terribly abusive to his mother.

Even Captain freaking Picard had a powerfully messed up family. Now that is something to think about.

In the USA, we have things like RAINN that are here to help.

Today was Thanksgiving here in the US. Harknell and I had a small dinner that was prepared mostly by microwave. The turkey was done in the oven. I think I need to face the fact that I need to buy serving dishes. Heh.

I got unexpectedly called into my day job so I was too tired to do a ton of cooking..same for Harknell. Next year I intend to make something fancier. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pecan pie. I still have a frozen pumpkin pie in the freezer.

I had to teach Harknell how to put whipped cream on his pie. It involved about a 7 inch pile of it. He seemed a bit disconcerted, but I assure you that is how to whip cream your pie like Iron Balls McGinty.

We watched The Jerk and Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

I took a nap before dinner in which I dreamt that I had a farm with a sick horse. Some guy said the horse needed to be put down, but I declared that to be poppycock. I then invented a contraption that would allow me and the horse to do giant bong rips. Thus, the horse was OK and I saved the day with my horse bong. I SAVED A LIFE.

That was my Thanksgiving. The End.

One caveat – it’s a shitty dub. Yes, I’m one of those people who can’t stand dubbed anime. I’m not sure how well it translates into an anime…but the manga is a total win.
