 Old Gregg

It’s not often that something totally breaks my entire brain like this. Hoo boy. It’s about 5 min long but VERY worth the watch.I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s a sketch about a fishing guy and a fish tutu gay man. Does anyone know where this came from?

Thanks to Mikie! for this one!

EDIT: HOLY WTF THERE’S MORE:

EDIT 2: I found it is from an English comedy show called The Mighty Boosh. Find out about it here, read specifically about Old Gregg here.

I NEED THIS SHOW.

 Review – 300

300

I just saw the movie 300. It’s always tough to review a film that is based on a comic, especially since I (and most people) haven’t read the comic. So, I am going to talk about it on two levels before I tell you what I think.

First, is 300 faithful to the comic? I haven’t read the comic, so I can’t tell you this. I have heard that it is satisfying to most fans that like the comic. If this is true, then on this level it succeeds.

Most people haven’t read the comic. So, is 300 a good movie? Does it tell a good self contained story? Well, yes and no. To someone like me who has studied a tiny bit about Sparta, a lot of things were a let down. Sparta’s biggest thing they were famous for – allowing women to participate in athletics and even fight if necessary – was omitted. I have a problem with this.

Sure this may have been faithful to what was portrayed in the book, but as a film by itself, nothing was special about this town to tell you that it was Sparta other than guys screaming, “Spartaaaaaa!” I am not very picky about this kind of thing. I was not expecting to see women added to the army of 300, I would have been happy if more than one was shown doing anything other than sitting around in fancy dress. Have one throw a freaking ball playing catch in the background and I’d have been happy! Don’t you think you might be preparing to defend your home if the army failed?

Keeping all this in mind, you have to draw a line in the sand and decide how to rate the film. I have to rate this film as a film, and not a bonus feature for the minority who have read the book.

300 provided me with plenty of action and violence, which I love. It looked great. That kicked ass. However, this isn’t the type of film I’d want to watch again. Nothing about the plot really stayed with me. I was actually annoyed that major Spartan cultural references were left out completely.

I think you will love this film if you want to see some guys kicking people’s asses and you don’t want a happy film. You will not like this film if you are expecting something truly rooted in history.

300 both succeeds and fails. 3 Onezumi heads.

Interview with Mariangela Demurtas – New Tristania Singer

Mariangela

You might remember when I posted the skull-explodingly awesome video of the new Tristania singer. Well, now we have an interview from her, so you can find out more.

Apparently she sang in a band called Alight. I looked the band up and I liked what I heard. Check Alight out here at their MySpace.

Here is a snippet of the interview:

We’re so proud to let you read this exclusive interview to Mariangela Demurtas, new female voice of the band Tristania, singer of Alight, as well as beautiful Sardinian girl, wonderful singer and above all genial personality.

Miusika : Hi Mary, so first of all I’d like to congratulate on this new ravishing plan you’re working at, thank you for your kindness.

Mary : Hi thank you so much, so how’s going on?

Miusika : So fine thanks… what about you?

Mary : I’m a bit tired but it’s all fine.

Miusika : Let’s start from your origins in order to arrive to your new engagements…

Mary : Ok.. I’m from Bitti, a little town in the middle of Sardinia.

Miusika : If I’m not wrong you began to sing in a blues band… to be more precise… in Francesco Piu’s band, right?

Mary : Yes, exactly. When I moved to Sassari to attend University I decided to try and sing in a band.

Miusika : Are you a self-taught singer or have you trained as a singer?

Mary : I’m completely autodidact, I have trained in my bedroom!

Miusika : So cool… and what did you usually sing? Whose voice do you like the most?

Mary : I began to be interested in soul voices, such as Tracy Chapman and Lauryn Hill, who have been my inspiration. Janis Joplin has been the light that helped me personalizing my voice, and then I’ve started trying other genres out.
