Hi! I'm Oni. I live in New Jersey. I am an illustrator, educator, webcomic creator, and I started the creator-focused convention called Intervention. I'm in the news a lot. I blog about art, theme parks, and fun things for people who also like kicking life in the nuts. Haunted attractions inspire my artwork.
I tend to approach most charity things with caution. While there are so many people out there doing good, there seems to also be a lot who you can never be sure where the money goes. The new trend toward “Ethical Fashion” that you might see in boutiques totally puts me off. The idea is that you buy a designer label and the designer will give an unspecified amount to someone who needs something. So many brands that claim to be ethical, a lot of assholes tend to ride a fine line. They do enough that their advertisements can “technically” say certain things, but often, there are ugly things out there.
It’s hard to know who is doing good, and that is a shame. You can imagine how thrilled I was to hear what the SDSU Alumni Association did for one little homeless girl:
SAN DIEGO — During this time of year many children hope for iPods, video games or maybe a new bike. Digital correspondent Ron Tuatagaloa introduces a 10-year-old homeless girl whose dreams are a bit loftier.
While most of the student body at San Diego State University scrambles to finish finals, 10-year-old Brittnie Pemberton has secured her future there.
A photo of a San Diego State University sign and Brittnie Pemberton’s hope for a college scholarship appeared as part of the Salvation Army’s Pictures of Hope — a 14-greeting card set that benefits their homeless program.
The SDSU Alumni Association got wind of the story and made Brittnie’s hopes a reality with a 4-year scholarship.
“I was expecting just to get a tour and I got a scholarship and it was really cool,” Brittnie said.
Brittnie’s mother Tanya was understandably thrilled.
“I don’t know how you bring this to words,” she said.
Tanya and her family have been living at the Salvation Army’s Transitional Living Center for the last six months. After many tough times, the scholarship stands out as a beacon of hope.
“So many things open up,” Tanya said. “So many opportunities; so many ways to find knowledge.”
Mother and daughter both look forward to Brittne’s future on Montezuma Mesa.
“I’m looking forward to having a good time at school; seeing what I can do,” Brittnie said.

Well, Harknell and I were busy all of Christmas week! My store was just upgraded. It will be themed each month with funny comics that go with the new art and stuff I’ll be releasing.
Also, my comic-related pages have been updated to explain it a bit better for new readers. Outdated pages begone!
Please look at the new Story/Cast page. It will orient you into the universe and prepare you for the tight writing that is planned for this year. Also, notice that the tutorial section and every other page has been updated. Yay! :D
I have a ton of cool shit planned for 2008! I am almost finished with 2 new art pieces, and we’ve just gotten our industrial pigment ink printer in, so I’ll be making art on steroids! :D Also, we’re looking forward to Katsucon, where tons of good mayhem will be happening! We are guests and we recently took a job as staff! Whee! I can’t wait to see some of you guys again on the road this year. I love it! :D
We will be out and about this weekend in NYC. If you see us, say hi! :D
I love industrial music, but I do not love cookie cutter default drum machine stuff with corny lyrics. You can imagine how much the following link made me bust up laughing because it makes fun of the cornball stuff with default drum machine beats. :D Thanks to The One Bob for the link.
“OMG FIND OUT WUT KNOBS DO!”
“EVERYBODY DANCING!”
